Israel is positioned at the juncture of Asia, and Africa, and inbetween the Sahara and Arabian deserts in the south, and Mediterranean and mountain regions in the north. This makes it zoologically extremely diverse in it's flora and fauna. It hosts a variety of terrains, habitats, vegetation types, and fauna. There is an abundance of reptile fauna in Israel, with almost 90 species. This makes Israel a hot spot for both herpers and professional herpetologists. This volume showcases current data, identification, taxonomic status, conservation needs, biogeography, life history, general biology, of all of the species of reptiles and amphibians currently enhabiting Israel (native or introduced). This includes both land and sea.  The book has been designed for use as not only a field guide, but also as a resource rich in information regarding the current status and biology of Israeli reptiles and amphibians. A great quantity of these reptiles and amphibians many of which exist in surrounding countries, and there are no updated field guides  presently available. This volume defines each species with a current textual account, colorful photoagraphs, and includes local and global distribution maps. Species that live in sandy habitats are discussed in a extra chapter. This chapter details their tracks and how to interpret them, completed with the help of photographs.
